At Geldof Recycling, we don't consider wood as waste, but as a raw material. By processing it carefully, we can give it a new purpose. But to truly contribute to the circular economy, we had to go even further and strengthen our expertise in wood processing through technological innovation.
In 2017, we established a specialized company that transforms recycled wood waste into an entirely new product: the G-Bloc. A revolutionary pallet block that symbolizes reuse, quality and technological innovation. This product is stronger, more durable and more reliable than the traditional solid block.
Geldof Recycling is the only company in Belgium capable of fully repurposing its own wood waste into a circular story. What begins as collected waste wood ends as a high-quality product with a sustainable future.
The process starts with post-consumer wood waste, meaning wood that has already been used (such as discarded particle boards or demolition wood) that would otherwise no longer have a high-quality destination.
This wood waste is processed in a high-tech production environment, focused on efficiency and energy savings. The wood waste is sorted, broken down and cleaned so that it is suitable for the next step: engineered wood production.
The wood waste is compressed ("engineered wood") under controlled conditions (pressure, temperature) so that a block is created with fixed dimensions, consistent quality and improved properties such as nail-holding capacity and water resistance.
The blocks are certified (including FSC® and PEFC) and must meet strict quality tests to ensure performance and reliability are guaranteed.
The final blocks are ready to be used in pallets or other applications, are packaged and transported according to customer needs (optimal loading, stackability). Moreover, they can be recycled again at the end of this life cycle. Thus, the circular chain is closed.
Pallet blocks form the solid foundation of numerous logistics and industrial applications. They are primarily used for the construction of wooden pallets, which are indispensable worldwide for transport, storage and distribution. Thanks to their load-bearing capacity and uniformity, they offer stable support for goods of all types and sizes.
What distinguishes G-Blocs from ordinary pallet blocks is their sustainable origin and exceptional quality. This makes them particularly suitable for intensive applications in logistics, production, construction materials, the food industry, e-commerce and retail – sectors where reliability and sustainability are crucial. The wood collected and processed at Geldof Recycling can receive a new life for a whole range of applications. But the ultimate repurposing is indeed the G-Bloc. Each block tells a story of sustainability, craftsmanship and Belgian innovation strength. And we can be proud of that: as the only ones in Belgium to master the complete cycle, we show what is possible when vision, technology and responsibility come together.
